The 50-plus population is receiving a lot of attention, especially from the business world. The aging population is so large and controls such a large chunk of disposable income that it is a powerful force. Even the AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) has lowered their target market.
Here are some tips to keep healthy while aging:
Exercise
See a doctor first if you have problems with your heart, high blood pressure, asthma, bone or joint problems, or diabetes.
Start slowly, whatever exercise you choose, and apply the “talk test”: You should be able to talk while you exercise.
Drink plenty of water.
Stretch before and after.
Exercise in the morning. Statistics show that people who exercise in the morning make a habit of it.
Your goal should be to do 40 minutes of vigorous activity three to five days week, plus some muscle and endurance exercises.
Mental Health
List what is making you stressed and think about how those things affect you.
Take control to change what you can.
Do not commit yourself to things you cannot or do not want to do.
Set limits by deciding what things in your daily life you will not sacrifice, such as eating dinner with your family.
Take time for yourself to relax and do something you enjoy each day.
